The JSC “Academician M.F. Reshetnev” Information Satellite Systems” is the parent enterprise in developing of all domestic navigation and geodesy space complexes and systems.
Composed of many spacecrafts, the JSC “ISS – Reshetnev Company” orbital constellation of coordinates-measuring satellites covers the LEO and MEO circular orbits of different inclinations. Since 1967, more than 180 coordinates-measuring satellites of 6 types were successfully launched and operated in LEO orbits by enterprise.
Since 1982, the satellites of high-accuracy Global navigation system “GLONASS”, developed and manufactured at the JSC “ISS – Reshetnev Company” by request of the Russian Federation DOD, are in operation.
The full-scale developing of “GLONASS” constellation was completed in 1995.
Nowadays it is available for foreign civil customers in parallel with the American NAVSTAR / GPS system.
Except the JSC “ISS – Reshetnev Company”, until now only the USA possesses the technology of developing and maintenance the multi-satellite systems of such complexity.
At present, the enterprise experience in developing, operating and modernization of “GLONASS” system is used in analysis of possibilities to create the “GALILEO” European satellite navigation system of new generation, as well as other foreign systems.
In 1989, the JSC “Academician M.F. Reshetnev “Information Satellite Systems” launched into MEO circular orbit some passive geodesic satellites of “Etalon” type.
The enterprise experience in the field of satellite coordinates measuring is used for the further development of «GLONASS» system and solving new tasks of navigation and geodesy on basis of new generation “GLONASS-K” satellites, manufactured at the JSC “ISS – Reshetnev Company”.
