Glonass-K is a next-generation navigation satellite intended for the GLONASS positioning system. Glonass-K provides positioning and timing data available to marine, terrestrial and aeronautical users worldwide at any given place, time, season and weather conditions. The Glonass-K satellite will boost the systems accuracy, enhance its operational characteristics and expand application opportunities. The satellite also carries COSPAS-SARSAT search and rescue payloads to relay signals from users in distress.
