New Glonass-M put into service
A navigation satellite Glonass-M №51 which was designed and built by Information Satellite Systems – Reshetnev Company, has started operation in orbit.
Glonass-M №51 was delivered into orbit on February 7 and later following its in-flight testing was accepted into service.
The new satellite replaced Glonass-M №14, the oldest satellite of the GLONASS constellation, which went into reserve status.
The GLONASS space segment today includes 22 satellites carrying out their intended mission. Apart from that, one satellite is currently undergoing in-flight tests, and four more satellites are in the maintenance or inspection status.
