Gonets satellites leave Earth
Orbital constellation of the Multifunctional Personal Satellite Communications System Gonets-D1M has been replenished following a successful launch of three Gonets-M satellites.
Designed and built by ISS-Reshetnev Company, three Gonets-M satellites lifted off aboard a Soyuz-2/Fregat rocket from a launch pad at the Plesetsk cosmodrome at 4:14 Moscow time. The satellites flew to a low Earth orbit with an altitude of 1500 kilometers.
Ground team is now preparing for orbital check-outs of the satellites’ onboard subsystems.
When commissioned into the Gonets-D1M system, the Gonets-M satellites will be used for personal communications services, including mobile and fixed communications, industrial, environmental and scientific monitoring in remote regions.
