Express-AM8 fully commissioned
The telecommunications satellite Express-AM8, designed and built by Academician M.F. Reshetnev Information Satellite Systems, was finally accepted into service in orbit on May 5.
The decision to accept the satellite into service was made when it successfully completed tests in eclipse that lasted from February 27 to April 12. ISS-Reshetnev Company performed testing of Express-AM8 when it was in the Earth’s shadow as part of the satellite construction contract.
Now when the satellite is fully commissioned to its customer – the Russian Satellite Communications Company (RSCC) ISS-Reshetnev technical team continues providing technical support and maintenance of Express-AM8.
The Express-AM8 satellite is stationed at 14 degrees West longitude and provides from this orbital position a wide spectrum of communications and broadcasting services. Based on ISS-Reshetnev’s Express-1000HTB platform, the satellite carries 42 transponders in C, Ku and L frequency bands. The projected lifespan of the satellite is 15 years.
