Theoretical courses for the customer representatives have commenced at ISS-Reshetnev within the framework of the KazSat-3 satellite project.
The courses are stipulated in contract for the construction of the KazSat-3 telecommunications satellite, which was signed between the Reshetnev Company and the Republican Center for Space Communication of Kazakhstan. The first phase of the educational program that included courses in General Engineering of Spacecraft lasted from February to May 2013 and took place in Astana. Thirty representatives of the customer attended lectures given by academic staff from Siberian State Aerospace University. Following the results of the competitive selection, 12 of them arrived to Russia to undertake further study.
This week specialists from Kazakhstan have commenced training at the premises of the Reshetnev Company. First of all they were taken for a site tour, as well as that they visited ISS-Reshetnev’s exhibition center and learned a lot about the company’s history from its inception till the present day. This 330-hour course is designed to provide representatives of the customer with a deep insight into the KazSat-3 satellite’s design, performance of its instruments and subsystems and also the satellite’s operational control.
At the same time foreign specialists undergo practical training. Some of the sessions are held at ISS-Reshetnev’s site while the others are organized at the Resource Center “Spacecraft and space-based systems” at the premises of Siberian State Aerospace University. During this phase of the educational program the Kazakh team will gain hands-on experience of using the CATIA computer-aided design program and machining components of satellite structures. Additionally, they will take part in a wide range of KazSat-3 satellite tests.
Training courses are due to finish at the end of this year.
