GEO-IK-2 flight tests
Information Satellite Systems – Reshetnev Company has completed testing service subsystems of the geodetic satellite GEO-IK-2.
The results obtained during testing and check-outs confirm GEO-IK-2’s service subsystems functioning as designed. The satellite was launched into orbit on June 4 and now is beginning the next phase – flight testing of its payload.
GEO-IK-2 №12L was designed and built by ISS-Reshetnev Company to lay the foundations of Russia’s next-generation space-based geodetic system. This system which is expected to consist of two satellites will be used to perform highly precise geodetic measurements. It will help update the Earth’s mapping model and refine its terrestrial parameters.
