ISS-Reshetnev Company embarks on new satellite construction projects
Information Satellite Systems – Reshetnev Company has begun building new telecommunications satellites Express-80 and Express-103.
Satellites construction work officially kicked off in the late December following entry into effect of the contract which had been signed between ISS-Reshetnev Company and the Russian Satellite Communications Company (RSCC) in the middle of 2016.
Express-80 and Express-103 spacecraft will be built around ISS-Reshetnev’s standardized medium-class Express-1000 platform. Payloads for the two satellites are traditionally subcontracted to the European company Thales Alenia Space and they will be fitted with 38 (Express-80) and 37 (Express-103) transponders operating in C-, Ku- and L- frequency bands.
To date ISS-Reshetnev Company has conducted preliminary contract work with its industrial partners for the delivery of various components and onboard equipment. Apart from that the production of service systems’ instruments and ground equipment is also well under way now.
The telecommunications satellites Express-80 and Express-103 are scheduled to be orbited in 2019. The mission of Express-80 and Express-103 satellites during their expected 15-year lifespan is to provide fixed and mobile communications, digital television and radio broadcasting services, high speed Internet access and data communications over the territory of Russia and the CIS countries.
