Loutch-5A delivered to cosmodrome
ISS-Reshetnev-built Loutch-5A data relay satellite was delivered to the Baikonur cosmodrome on
The delivery to the launch site went off according to plan. The preparations for the satellite’s launch by a Proton-M/Breeze-M rocket are under way. The spacecraft is to be injected into orbit in tandem with the AMOS-5 satellite in December.
Loutch-5A’s launch will be the fist step towards the creation of the Loutch multifunctional space data relay system. The satellite will provide communications between the Earth and low-altitude spacecraft, launchers and their upper stages. Loutch-5A will also receive and transmit KOSPAS-SARSAT distress signals, meteorological data, navigation signals as well as data from the International Space Station.
