Prospects for cooperation with foreign partners

Information Satellite Systems – Reshetnev Company met with representatives of Thales Alenia Space France to discuss cooperation prospects in the field of making instruments for geodetic satellites.

The recent meeting of ISS-Reshetnev team and its long-standing partner was held at ISS-Reshetnev’s facilities to discuss prospects of using radioaltimeters supplied by Thales Alenia Space France in ISS-Reshetnev’s future geodetic satellites.

Made by Thales Alenia Space France, radioaltimeters represent the most critical instruments carried by geodetic satellites and are capable of measuring the height of satellites above the terrain.

As of today, two ISS-Reshetnev’s next-generation geodetic satellites have been equipped with SADKO altimeters delivered by Thales Alenia Space. One of them – Geo-IK-2 №12 is healthy in orbit successfully fulfilling its mission, the second – Geo-IK-2 №13 – is being built now.

ISS-Reshetnev and Thales Alenia Space specialists discussed the results obtained during flight tests of the SADKO altimeter onboard the currently functioning satellite, and also outlined prospects for further enhancing cooperation between ISS-Reshetnev Company and Thales Alenia Space. The French guests made a presentation of the company’s most advanced altimeters and gravimeters which could be used in future geodetic and navigation satellites.

Information Satellite Systems – Reshetnev Company is the only Russia’s company specializing in the development and production of geodetic and navigation satellites. The company’s geodetic satellites of the Geo-IK-2 series are intended to lay the foundations of Russia’s orbital constellation of next-generation geodetic system. This system will be used to perform highly precise geodetic measurements and will help update the Earth’s mapping model and refine its terrestrial parameters.
