Glonass-M satellites successfully launched
Three Glonass-M satellites manufactured by the Siberian ISS-Reshetnev Company were launched today from Baikonur in cluster №41.
Three Glonass-M navigation spacecraft (30, 33, 34) were successfully delivered into a circular orbit at an altitude of 19140 km by a Proton-M/DM launcher. The launch was conducted according to plan.
The satellites are controlled by the modernized System Control Center subordinate to the Ministry Of Defence located in Krasnoznamensk. The JSC “Information Satellite Systems” provides technical assistance in controlling the spacecraft. The first communication session went off successfully. All the systems are functioning properly.
Glonass-M satellites are manufactured by the JSC “Information Satellite Systems” within the scope of the GLONASS (Global Navigation Satellite System) replenishment program. The 1450-kiligram Glonass-M spacecraft are designed to orbit at least 7 years to provide high-precision position and time data for the entire spectrum of users, both military and civilian. The new-generation navigation satellites of the Glonass-M series are two-and-a-half times as accurate as their predecessors.
