ISS-Reshetnev Company to host UN international workshop
Information Satellite Systems – Reshetnev Company is to host the United Nations International Workshop on Applications of Global Navigation Satellite Systems which will take place in Krasnoyarsk on May 18-22, 2015.
The event is organized jointly by the United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs and the Russian Federal Space Agency. As a company which is responsible for the space-based segment of the GLONASS system and an only Russian provider of navigation satellites, ISS-Reshetnev Company will host the workshop.
Workshop participants will discuss how global navigation satellite systems are used to ensure sustainable social-economic development and, more specifically, in developing countries. Current and prospect projects based on satellite navigation technologies including GLONASS-enabled services will be presented.
Discussions of the joint use of the Russian system GLONASS and other global navigation satellite systems will be divided into nine sessions. Additionally, workshop participants will be taken on a tour round ISS-Reshetnev manufacturing facilities where they will be brought up to date on latest developments and cutting-edge technologies in the field of satellite production.
The workshop is expected to bring together some 150 delegates, including representatives of more than 20 foreign countries – from CIS to Latin America. Among workshop participants there will be representatives of national space agencies, professors and researches from universities and academic institutions who are responsible for and interested in the development of the navigation and geodetic infrastructure.
