The delegation of Angola consisted of the National Space Program Management Office (State Company GGPEN) representatives. During the visit to ISS they attended the workshops where the development work on the AngoSat-2 telecommunications spacecraft is currently underway.
After showcasing the guests the progress in satellite production, the representatives of the Angolan delegation, ISS and the payload contractor - the European Airbus Company - held a joint discussion of the project implementation.
“We saw an almost completed machine and were impressed by it”, said Zolana Joao, CEO of GGPEN. - It is left to wait for the integration and testing. ISS gives us hope for a prompt launch".
The AngoSat-2 spacecraft is being created in the interests of the Republic of Angola to provide modern telecommunications services in the Ku- and C-frequency bands. In this project the Reshetnev Company is responsible for the satellite’s development, manufacture, testing and launch. The spacecraft is being built on the basis of the Express-1000N medium class platform developed by ISS which will be integrated with a payload from a foreign contractor. The guaranteed service life of the apparatus will make up 15 years.
