ISS-Reshetnev engaged in the creation of the multifunctional space system Arctica
Within the scope of the Arctica project the JSC “Academician M.F. Reshetnev “Information Satellite Systems” is responsible for the development of the communications, broadcasting and data relaying subsystem Arctica-MC to be comprised of three satellites.
The JSC “Information Satellite Systems” has been involved in the project for over a year. In May the company was offered to act as the contractor for the manufacture of three high-elliptical heavy-class satellites Arctica-MC. These spacecraft will provide a wide range of information services for the Arctic Region, including dispatch communication for the navy and air forces, as well as television and radio broadcasting services. Besides, the Arctica-MC satellites will be equipped with an apparatus for transmitting differential corrections, which will allow application of the Glonass system to provide cross-polar flights and sea traffic.
At present specialists of the Reshetnev Company are involved in the development of the multifunctional space system Arctica and the determination of the Arctica-MC’s payload composition. To implement these successfully, the representatives of the Information Satellite Systems are regularly holding meetings with the operators and users of the new space system. In particular, a number of meetings have already been held with the JSC Gasprom Space Systems, the federal unitary enterprise RSCC and the Northern Interregional Territorial Administration for Hydrometeorology and Environmental monitoring.
