Express-AM8 satellite in orbital position
With the help of ISS-Reshetnev technical team the Express-AM8 telecommunications satellite has successfully completed its journey to the intended slot in geostationary orbit.
Express-AM8 is now stationed at 14 degrees West longitude. The satellite arrived at this slot from another position of 80,15 degrees East where it went through a comprehensive program of flight tests in mid-October.
Now ISS-Reshetnev specialists are readying the Express-AM8 satellite for commissioning in operation, gathering statistics of how its orbit control propulsion subsystem and Telemetry, Command and Ranging subsystem perform.
The satellite was manufactured by ISS-Reshetnev under a contract with the Russian Satellite Communications Company (RSCC). ISS-Reshetnev’s Express-1000HTB platform on which the satellite is based provides 5600 W of payload power. Express-AM8 carries 42 transponders in C-, Ku- and L- frequency bands and has a 15-year designed active lifespan.
