Council on space-based segment of GLONASS
Information Satellite Systems – Reshetnev Company is holding a meeting of the Science and Technical Council on the space-based segment of the GLONASS satellite navigation system on January 19, 2017.
The Reshetnev Company is hosting the meeting as a prime contractor responsible for the space segment of the GLONASS system. The Council meeting is attended by representatives of companies which are part of ISS-Reshetnev’s integrated corporate structure, research institutes of ROSCOSMOS and the Russian Ministry of Defence.
The main theme of the Science and Technical Council meeting focuses on the ways accuracy and other technical characteristics of the GLONASS system’s space segment can be improved. The meeting participants are discussing the issues dealing with onboard equipment of navigation spacecraft and its modernization, advances in ephemeris and time support technologies, calibration of satellites’ and ground control stations’ ranging systems.
As part of the meeting program the participants are going to take a deeper insight into the current state of navigation satellites production at ISS-Reshetnev Company and also they will be given a guided tour of the company’s facilities. Implementing a research and development (R&D) project called GLONASS-KK-V-Nezavisimost, the Reshetnev Company is now tasked with building nine modernized Glonass-K satellites and two next-generation Glonass-K2 spacecraft.
The meeting of the Science and Technical Council is being held at ISS-Reshetnev Company as a preparation to the upcoming GLONASS Chief Designers Council which is to take place at the company in February.
