New type of solar arrays developed at ISS-Reshetnev
ISS-Reshetnev Company has developed a new type of solar arrays for satellites.
The new type of solar array wing, developed by ISS-Reshetnev specialists, features additional functions – it is able to not only deploy but also to fold back to the initial storage position. It will increase satellites’ maneuvering capabilities in orbit which can be beneficial when changing orbital positions or towing satellites to graveyard orbits.
The new solar array wings have already undergone a series of tests that verified reliability of the deployment and folding mechanism, synchronization system and locking pin. The new solar array wings can be applied to any type of satellites irrespective of their dimensions and mass.
