Glonass-M in orbit
A Glonass-M navigation satellite, designed and built by ISS-Reshetnev Company, was launched on March 16, 2020.
The satellite lifted off from the Plesetsk Cosmodrome on top of a Soyuz-2.1b/Fregat rocket at 21:28 Moscow Time.
At designated time Glonass-M reached its orbit, shortly after that the ground controllers at the Krasnoznamensk-based Titov Main Test and Space Systems Control Centre established contact with it.
By now the Glonass-M satellite’s mechanical systems have already deployed, with the Sun and Earth orientation completed. The satellite systems’ check-outs are currently under way.
Glonass-M was launched into the orbit to augment the constellation of the GLONASS global navigation satellite system.
