Skills competition kicks off at ISS-Reshetnev Company
On September 19-24 Information Satellite Systems – Reshetnev Company is holding a professional skills competition. It is the first vocational skills competition organized by the company in compliance with the international WorldSkills Championship standards.
The first day of the event will see competitions in four skill categories: “Lath work on CNC machines”, “Milling work on CNC machines”, “Welding technology” and “Engineering graphics CAD”. Then young competitors will demonstrate their abilities in “Prototyping” and “Electronics”. Depending on the type of skill, competitors will have one or several days to perform their tasks. To evaluate results and performance of competitors in each skill category there will be a special expert council. More than 50 workers and engineers of ISS-Reshetnev are going to take part in the competition; they will be divided into two age groups – those under 26 and 34 respectively.
The skills competition is aimed to give visibility and importance to professional education, promote vocational skills excellence. The new format of ISS-Reshetnev’s professional skills championship (adhering to WorldSkills standards) will help the company thoroughly train and prepare its specialists and workers for their successful participation in industry-wide, national and international stages of skills competitions, promote and encourage vocational training and education to the highest level.
Winners of the competition will be awarded medals and certificates on September 24, on the eve of the Machine Builders Day – a professional holiday widely recognized in the Russian aerospace industry. Those ISS-Reshetnev employees who win gold and silver medals will have an opportunity to represent the company in industry-wide competitions based on WorldSkills standards.
