Production – science alliance to increase reliability of ISS-Reshetnev’s satellites
Information Satellite Systems – Reshetnev Company hosted a visiting session of the 5th Pan-Russian scientific conference “Security and survivability of engineering systems”.
As a high-technology space company, ISS-Reshetnev became a platform for discussing promising development directions – those areas into which research is highly vital for the space systems engineering. The visiting session was organized by the Krasnoyarsk-based Research Center of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
The event was attended by a number of scientists from Krasnoyarsk, Novosibirsk, Irkutsk, Chelyabinsk and Moscow. They discussed how the reliability and strength of satellite structures could be increased. ISS-Reshetnev representatives shared the expertise of the company in this field. ISS-Reshetnev has gained considerable experience cooperating with research organizations, and this valuable experience was represented at the session by a certain range of the company’s solutions such as metal composite high-pressure xenon tank, parabolic antennas and the results of satellite onboard instruments’ tests.
Moreover, the participants of the conference visited ISS-Reshetnev’s production facilities where they had an opportunity to get acquainted with the company’s capabilities and advances in the field of building large-sized foldable mechanical systems for satellites as well as to learn more about what else could be done to ensure the reliability and longevity of such products.
The conference “Security and survivability of engineering systems” helped all the specialists present at the event to get a much deeper insight into how research and development (R&D) projects were implemented at ISS-Reshetnev and also define a scope of tasks to be fulfilled with a view of increasing the reliability of structures used in satellites with a long – 15 years and more – design lifespan.
