NPO PM sets to electric tests of the “Express-AM33” satellite
On , NPO PM and Thales Alenia Space co-operative team started electric testing of the spacecraft “Express-AM33” being developed under the contract of Roskosmos, Information and communications Ministry and RSCC.
Testing was preceded by an important step – a payload module delivery from France to NPO PM, the payload and the module of a satellite support systems integration. According to Alexander Dostovalov, NPO PM “Express-AM” project manager, all works have been carried out in due time and with high quality.
As it was noted by Adelin Baiget, Thales Alenia Space “Express-AM” project manager “Thales for the first time has developed and produced a new payload in16 months. We certainly planned to expend less time, but the “Express-AM” payload was equipped with two new antennas, new instruments later to pass qualification. We worked with great efforts”.
According to the work schedule, the satellite is to undergo qualification tests till December 27, and to be delivered to Baikonur. The satellite will be launched in January, 2008. “We are time-bound to carry out pre-launching works at Baikonur, - admits Alexander Dostovalov – the satellite launching schedule date may be impeded with New Year holidays. We are doing now every single thing to ensure works at the Baikonur launch site during the holidays”.
The telecom satellite “Express-AM33” is developed jointly by NPO PM and Thales Alenia Space under the state contract with Roskosmos, Ministry of Information and RSCC. The Reshetnev NPO PM is responsible for the satellite on the whole, including its support systems module, payload module construction and L-band devices, Thales Alenia Space supplies NPO PM with a payload module according to the contract with RSCC.
