Glonass-M satellite successfully lofted into orbit
The Glonass-M #47 spacecraft, designed and manufactured by Academician M.F. Reshetnev Information Satellite Systems was successfully launched from the Plesetsk cosmodrome
ISS-Reshetnev team spent one month at the cosmodrome preparing the satellite for launch. Specialists filled the propellant feed module, installed solar panels on the spacecraft and performed final checks to verify satellite’s readiness for launch.
A Souz-2.1b/Fregat rocket lifted off from the launch pad at 09:23 a.m. Moscow standard time. The launch went off according to plan and the Glonass-M #47 navigation satellite was placed into the targeted orbit 3.5 hours into mission.
The first communication session has confirmed that the spacecraft is operating as designed, its mechanical systems deployed, Sun and Earth acquisition completed successfully.
