Medalists revealed at ISS-Reshetnev’s skills competition
On September 24, Information Satellite Systems – Reshetnev Company honoured medalists and finalists of professional skills competition at the award ceremony held at the company’s facilities.
This year the professional skills competition was organized by ISS-Reshetnev Company in accordance with WorldSkills international standards on the occasion of the Machine Builders Day. More than 50 young ISS-Reshetnev employees took part in the event competing in six skills categories: “Lath work on CNC machines”, “Milling work on CNC machines”, “Welding technology”, “Engineering graphics CAD”, “Electronics” and “Prototyping”.
Winners were chosen in each of the skills categories and in two age groups: aged under 26 and 34 respectively. Winners under 26 gained an opportunity to progress further and participate in industry-wide stage of the WorldSkills Championship. Top two contestants in each skill category were awarded honorary certificates and prize money. A commemorative prize was also given in team all-around. It came to the department of ground equipment and instruments whose representatives outscored other participants.
WorldSkills is the global hub for skills excellence and development representing 72 countries and regions. Through international cooperation and development between industry, government, organizations, and institutions, the WorldSkills movement promotes the need for and benefits of vocational careers by organizing professional skill competitions. The WorldSkills Championship includes 45 skill categories divided into six groups, including those dealing with engineering and manufacturing technologies. Russia has been part of the WorldSkills movement since 2012. This year the first Russian competition in accordance with WorldSkills standards was held – Corporate Rocket and Space Industry Championship “Young professionals of ROSCOSMOS”.
