Yamal-401 satellite completed
ISS-Reshetnev Company has finished building the telecommunications satellite Yamal-401.
Yamal-401 is intended to provide continuous communications and television broadcasting services to its coverage areas, including Europe and Asia. The satellite is equipped with 53 transponders and six antennas operating in C- and Ku- frequency bands.
Yamal-401 is the third satellite developed and manufactured by the Reshetnev Company on the base of its heavy-class Express-2000 platform. The satellite weighs 2976 kilograms and is capable of providing 11 kW of power to the payload. Its mission in the geostationary orbit is expected to last at least 15 years.
The contract for the design and construction of the Yamal-401 telecommunications satellite was awarded to ISS-Reshetnev by the Russian operator Gazprom Space Systems. The Reshetnev Company is the prime contractor under this project and is responsible for the development, integration and testing of the satellite, as well as building its ground control complex.
