ISS-Reshetnev representatives discuss GLONASS-BeiDou cooperation
ISS-Reshetnev Company is taking part in the meeting of the Russia-China Project Committee on Important Strategic Cooperation in Satellite Navigation.
The meeting of the Russia-China Project Committee on Important Strategic Cooperation in Satellite Navigation, which is taking part in Kazan on August 28-30, is organized by the ROSCOSMOS State Corporation. It embodies four theme specific groups of experts who come together to discuss various aspects of cooperation between the two systems – Russia’s Glonass that uses navigation satellites built by ISS-Reshetnev Company, and China’s BeiDou.
The group focused on compatibility and interoperability of GLONASS and BeiDou is co-chaired by Sergey Revnivykh, deputy general director of ISS-Reshetnev Company. Members of this group presented the results of an analysis that revealed radio frequency compatibility of GLONASS and BeiDou navigation signals. It means that signals of the both systems can be received by users without any mutual interference. As well as that Russian and Chinese experts taking part in the meeting also confirmed compatibility of GLONASS and BeiDou orbital constellations that eliminates the risk of satellite collision in orbit.
The meeting agenda also includes discussions addressing interoperability and complementarity of the system’s time scales. The Russian and Chinese parties also developed a project of a Cooperation agreement between the ROSCOSMOS State Corporation and China’s Committee on satellite navigation.
Another goal of the meeting was to promote and support the alignment of coordinate systems of GLONASS and BeiDou to the international geocentric coordinate system.
