Gonets-D1M communications system completed flight tests
The multifunctional personal communications system Gonets-D1M based on LEO satellites designed and built by ISS-Reshetnev Company has successfully completed in-orbit flight tests.
During the tests, all the satellites that are part of the system were tested, their proper operation verified. As well as that, ground stations and their interaction with subscriber terminals were also checked. Following the results of these tests, the state commission recommended that the Gonets-D1M system be accepted into trial operation.
The personal communications system Gonest-D1M is based on low-orbiting satellites of the Gonets-M series that were designed and built by ISS-Reshetnev Company under a contract with the Federal Space Agency. In 2015 the system was completed with the required number of 12 satellites comprising the constellation.
Gonets-M satellites are intended to enable communications and data transmission services in remote and hard-to-reach regions, including the Far North, and are also used for industrial, transport and environmental monitoring.
