The satellite was launched from the Plesetsk cosmodrome on a Soyuz-2.1a/Fregat rocket. In accordance with the planned timetable, Meridian separated from the launch vehicle’s upper stage and arrived at its final orbit.
The Meridian satellite is controlled from the Titov Space Assets Test and Control Center with the support of ISS-Reshetnev’s Information Computation Center. Specialists receive and process telemetry data from the satellite. It has already fulfilled Sun and Earth acquisition, all its systems function as designed.
Meridian is to provide communications between sea vessels, aircraft and coastal stations.
