The telecommunications satellite Yamal-300K was built by ISS-Reshetnev Company for a Russian satellite operator Gazprom Space Systems. Yamal-300K is tasked with providing a wide range of modern communications services to users across Russia and the CIS countries.
Under this contract the Reshetnev Company developed, manufactured, commissioned the satellite in orbit, and also prepared the ground control complex. The payload for this satellite was supplied by its customer – Gazprom Space Systems. In addition to that, the operator developed the onboard order wire equipment, the ground control station and some other subsystems of the ground control complex.
ISS-Reshetnev’s Express-1000H platform was opted to be the base of the Yamal-300K satellite. It was a good solution, since it made it possible for Yamal-300K to carry a bigger payload which the customer had initially planned to install on two different satellites. Weighing around 1900 kilograms, Yamal-300K provides 5.9 kW of payload power and has a 15-year designed active lifespan. It is equipped with 26 transponders operating in C- and Ku-bands.
A rocket carrying Yamal-300K and its co-passenger Loutch-5B was successfully launched on November 3, 2012.
